Most strategies for playing in online casinos are focused on roulette. Thanks to the fact that this discipline is mathematically predictable and each outcome has its probability share, this data can be used to increase one's advantage. While guaranteeing constant winnings is not possible, it is possible to organize a strategy and bankroll management effectively. One of the simplest systems, which even an absolute novice can master, was developed by Labouchere.
How It Works
The Labouchere strategy can be applied in any gambling activities where there are bets on equal chances. This is a type of forecast where only one of two outcomes can occur. The probability of each is approximately 50%. A prime example is red and black in roulette.
Before starting bets, it is necessary to create a starting template. In it, a group of numbers needs to be recorded. One will equal a certain minimum bet value.
The size of the numbers and the length of the sequence can be anything. However, it is better to choose small numbers and use a smooth step for increasing and decreasing the bet.
For example, as the unit, the user can choose an amount of $50. This means that the two will be $100, the five will be $250, and so on. Next, it is necessary to determine the goal, for example, $1000. This amount needs to be divided by the size of the starting bet. As a result, it will be 20. Then, the number is broken down into a sequence. It should look something like this: 1-1-1-2-2-3-3-2-2-1-1-1.
At the start, the player needs to take the two extreme numbers on both sides and place a bet. In this case, it will be $100. The corresponding number of chips is moved to the field with the forecast for equal chances.
If the result turns out to be positive, the extreme numbers are removed from the sequence, and the bet is repeated with new numbers.
The sequence now looks like this: 1-1-2-2-3-3-2-2-1-1.
These actions need to be repeated until the result is negative. Then the numbers are not removed from the sequence. Instead, a new number is added to the right. For example, if the desired outcome is not achieved on the second bet, the sequence will look like this: 1-1-2-2-3-3-2-2-1-1-2.
Then the bets are repeated following the same principle. The main task in the Labouchere strategy is to get rid of all the numbers in the sequence. Once this goal is achieved, the user's total winnings will reach that same $1000.
Advantages and Disadvantages of the Labouchere Strategy
Like any other betting system, there are pros and cons here. There are quite a few of them if you conduct a deep analysis; however, the main ones are as follows.
pros | Minuses |
---|---|
To make a profit, it is enough to win about a third of all bets made | Results are not guaranteed. Due to the randomness of the roulette ball falling, the desired outcome may not occur even on the tenth attempt. |
You don't need to keep anything in your head. All calculations are made in advance on a sheet of paper or in an electronic notepad. | The risk is gradually increasing. If a person suffers a series of failures, then each subsequent bet will be riskier. |
On average, a low level of dispersion. Prolonged series of failures rarely happen, so your bankroll can be stretched for a long time. | You cannot combine several types of forecasts. Bets should only be placed on even odds, without deviating from the pattern. |
The larger the amount of money set as the goal, the longer the chain needs to be. Short sequences are quite risky. While they have a chance of bringing quick results, the bankroll can be depleted just as quickly.
